Continuing Education: Information for ProfessionalsThe goal of our education program is to provide as many opportunities as possible for professionals to learn about providing high-quality hospice and palliative care. Programs are available to physician, nurses, social workers, pharmacists and chaplains. Throughout the year we offer many educational programs in different locations. Hospice of the Bluegrass is a provider of Nursing and Social Work Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and the host to numerous workshops, conferences and trainings where professionals can obtain CEUs. Palliative Medicine ConferenceOctober 20 & 21, 2011 The focus of the “Art and Science of Palliative Medicine” conference is to update the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals providing care to persons and families living with serious illness. Palliative care begins at diagnosis of a serious illness and transitions into hospice care. Palliative medicine is focused on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. Palliative care is provided by a team of doctors, nurses, and other specialists who work with a patient's other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. Palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and can be provided together with curative treatment. This conference will give you the tools to grow professionally in palliative medicine. Target audience: This conference is focused on Physicians, ARNP’s, PA’s, Nurses, and Long Term Care Administrators. Other members of the interdisciplinary team will find value in the program and may want to attend. Click here for more information.
